My difficulties arise when I try to install the SystemRescueCD ISO using dd onto the same stick. I've tested this on my old Sony, and it works for me (I'm posting from the machine now). I am familiar with GParted basics and can partition a USB stick and install Clonezilla on the first partition. After your install is done you can clean up your paritions if you want. This tool offers many possibilities like: adobe reader, internet access, file recovery, CD-burning and many others. It takes some time to create your perfect Barts PE, but its worth the effort. Remember you can't install to the scratch directory.
